The monastery settled amidst the striking snowy Himalayan peaks. It is perched at an elevation of 3,000m above sea level. And the Tawang Monastery has the control over 17 gompas and is an abode for over 300 monks. Moreover, it boasts the mighty statue of Lord Buddha. And it was discovered by ‘Merak Lama Lodre Gyamtso’ to fulfill the wish of the 5th Dalai Lama, Nagwang Lobsang Gyatso.
The Tawang Monastery spreads over an area of 135 square kilometers. And it boasts 65 accommodations structures and 10 other buildings. Apart from it, it contains the library, assembly hall or Dukhang, altar dedicated to Goddess Shri Devi, stone-slab court and much more.
