Kalaram Temple Nashik, Maharashtra

Kalaram Temple is one of the highly revered temple for Hindus. Located in Nasik, Maharashtra. Being the ancient temple, it has been attracting the massive number of devotees all over the world.  The presiding deity Lord Ram statue is in black color. That’s the reason why the temple got the name as Kalaram. The temple also houses the statues of Goddess Sita Devi and Lord Lakshmana in the sanctum sanctorum. These statues are also in black color. Initially, the devotees can have a glimpse of the Lord Hanuman which is at the temple entrance. The idol also is in black color.

The temple was built in 1792. As per the famous folklore, the man named Sardar Odhekar had a dream that the statue of Rama in black color is there in the river Godavari. Odhekar took the statue from the river and built the temple. The place where statues were found was named as Ramkund.
